$2,800,000 Settlement – Aviation Crash Resulting in Death (Osceola County, FL)

Private planes (general aviation) can be a wonderful thing.  But when an inexperienced pilot meets with incompetent air traffic control and a bad storm, disaster strikes.

$2,800,000 settlement for the family of a young man survived by his wife.  John Leighton represented the family of the deceased pilot. The man, an inexperienced private pilot, was misdirected by air traffic control into a dangerous storm formation. He was piloting a high performance aircraft in Central Florida.  He was unaware that he was flying directly into a very dangerous weather situation because of the information provided to him by an FAA traffic controller who was inexperienced and poorly trained.  The aircraft broke apart in midair and burned on impact. A case was brought against the FAA based on negligent air traffic control and against component part manufacturers. The confidential settlement provided for this family and assisted the widow in caring for the young children he left behind.
