$1,136,000 Settlement – Inadequate Security Case: Sexual Assault in Mall (Wisconsin)

A sexual assault on a young woman working at a store cost our client her emotional health.

John Elliott Leighton was retained by a Wisconsin woman who was sexually assaulted in a factory outlet mall.  It turned out that the perpetrator was a serial rapist who was traveling through the country sexually assaulting lone female clerks at factory outlet malls.

Mr. Leighton discovered through aggressive litigation that there were many instances of crimes and warnings to the management company, as well as cutbacks in security which resulted in this crime.  After litigation in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the case was settled for $1,136,000 prior to trial. L.F. v. McArthur Glen.

This woman suffered from extreme post traumatic stress disorder and was unable to participate in life as she knew it.  After the case was concluded, our client was able to get the help she needed to regain her self esteem, and the ability to have that needed care for the rest of her life.
