$1,510,000 Settlement – Mother’s Death Following Childbirth (Miami)

$1,510,000 recovery for the family of a woman who died after giving birth  to her baby.  She gave birth to a healthy baby but developed serious infections that resulted in her premature death.  She was never able to see or know her baby.

Her death was a result of infection after childbirth, because portions of the placenta were not removed at the time of delivery. Because portions remained, they became infected and caused a massive infection and sepsis in this young otherwise healthy woman. Trial lawyer John Elliott Leighton represented the surviving husband and child, and resolved the matter short of trial. The terms and parties remain confidential as a term of the settlement.
