Confidential Settlement – Defective gastric bubble

John Leighton was retained to represent a woman who sustained serious internal injuries from the placement of a gastric bubble device intended to cause weight loss.  The bubble was inserted into the stomach through the throat and then inflated to create a sense of being full.  This product deflated and migrated into the colon, causing perforation and infection.  After filing suit, a confidential settlement was obtained.
