$600,000 settlement – death in nursing home

What happens when a nursing home fails to care for its elderly residents? Many facilities act as though its patients’ lives don’t have value.  Sadly, at a time when people need the most care and understanding, they are often neglected and left untreated.  Most experts suggest that families who are involved in their loved one’s care get better care.  But even when families participate and oversee the nursing home care, a  lot of these residents are neglected.

John Elliott Leighton represented the survivor of a man who died due to poor care in a Miami nursing home.  Despite pointing out the changes in his father’s condition to the nursing home, the care never improved and his father’s condition rapidly deteriorated.  Mr. Leighton obtained a $600,000 settlement prior to trial.
