$550,000 settlement – sexual abuse in hospital by physician

Our client, a young woman, was an inpatient at a Miami hospital. She had been in a serious car accident.

During the time she was there recovering from injuries from a car crash, a resident physician came to her room.  On two occasions he entered the room and sexually fondled her genitals.   Our client reported the conduct to the hospital.  The doctor denied that the incident happened.  Leighton Law’s Max Panoff and John Leighton were able to prove that this physician did in fact enter her room without any justifications at the times she reported.

The case was settled confidentially for $550,000 plus the hospital’s firing of the doctor and reporting him to the Board of Medicine.  This was required so that he would not be able to do this to another patient again.  Our years of litigating sexual abuse cases has shown us that abusers keep repeating their crimes until they are permanently stopped.
