$2,100,000 Settlement – Resort Tort: Closed Head Trauma Resulting from Boating Accident (Broward County, FL)

 Resort and vacation injury (ResortTort): A $2,100,000 settlement was obtained by John Elliott Leighton on behalf of a teenager who suffered a closed head trauma from boating accident at a resort hotel in Broward County, Florida.  The young woman suffered a facial laceration and closed head trauma, but did not require hospitalization after emergency room treatment.  MRI and CT scans did not reveal any organic brain injury but she had memory issues following the accident.

Despite the lack of findings on MRI, the woman continued to display signs and symptoms of traumatic brain injury (TBI) following the head injury.  Like many TBIs, even modern medical diagnostic tools like MRIs cannot detect all brain injury.  Many survivors of head trauma find that they have altered abilities and other symptoms that do not show up on CT scans or MRIs.  Our client was one such patient, even though she had a true brain injury.
