$200,000 Verdict for customer of supermarket – slip and fall on water

Mrs. Marin was walking inside a major supermarket doing her grocery shopping.  She slipped and fell on some water that was leaking from one of the shelves.  One of the containers of bottled water had a hole, causing the water to run onto the floor. She fell on her back, suffering a strain to her lower back.  John Elliott Leighton obtained a jury verdict for Mr. and Mrs. Marin of $200,000. Marin v. Florida Supermarkets (Broward County Circuit Court).
