$1,000,000 settlement – death from bariatric surgery/gastric bypass (Houston, TX)

John Elliott Leighton obtained a $1,000,000 confidential settlement against a Houston hospital, physician and weight loss business after our client’s wife died following gastric bypass surgery.  This wife and mother suffered bleeding following the surgery.  The hospital and physicians failed to recognize the signs and symptoms of bleeding; by the time they reacted, it was too late and she died.  The weight loss business was funded by the hospital, and advertised heavily in the mass media. Mr. Leighton teamed up with Texas trial lawyer Steven C. Laird to obtain this settlement.
