John Leighton was re-elected as Chairman of The Academy of Trial Advocacy in San Francisco. At the Academy's convention July 25-27 at San Francisco's Hilton Hotel, Leighton chaired the Academy's luncheon series, which included lectures by Prof. Erwin Chemerinsky, noted Supreme Court Scholar and Dean of the University of California Irvine Law School and Bill Dussault, Esq., the creator of the special needs trust. Leighton and fellow trial lawyer Steven Laird, Esq., of Fort Worth, Texas, were the keynote speakers at one luncheon, which was attended by members and guests from around the country as well as the Academy's Board of Legal Scholars. The Academy of Trial Advocacy is a national invitation-only association of the nation's leading catastrophic injury attorneys.
